Brand New formed in Long Island, New York in the early 2000s. Brand New is made up of Jesse Lacey (Lead vocals, Lyricist, and Guitar), Vincent "Vin/Vinnie" Accardi (Guitar, Piano and Backup vocals), Garrett Tierney (Bass), and Brian Lane (Drums). As of early 2006, they were also unofficially joined by another guitarist, Derrick Sherman, who helped out on their third album and now tours with them. They initially had a pop-punk sound, with stirring lyrics, and an unusually intricate sound for a band of this genre. Their second album showed a matured lyrical direction and a departure from their earlier pop-punk sound.
